The humble polka dot. It’s one of those “trends” that’s technically not a trend because of its sheer staying power. An iteration of this dotty pattern appears season after season: sometimes as pointillist dots, sometimes the size of silver dollars. They span the whole of the color spectrum and adorn every kind of garment imaginable, down to our very skivvies.
Over the years, I’ve developed a bit of a soft spot (teehee) for this pattern. It’s fun, flirty, and feminine. It adds instant dimension and visual interest against a solid color. And it’s universally flattering to boot. What’s not to like?
Naturally, I fell in love with this dress when I stumbled across it in Aritzia. Polka dots and buttons down the front? On a mini dress that revealed just enough without compromising my modesty? By all means, take my money; take it all.
Practical as always, I donned this dotty mini for a hot trek through Glenfield Park, choked with tall grass and shrubs and, inevitably, bugs. The abundant flora blindsided me, but once I was in the thicket with hubby in the lead, the only way out was forward.
The park rewarded my tolerance with a mossy stone wall and a babbling brook, both worthy prizes for me and my little black (polka-dot) dress.
Come, let’s take a walk together 🤝

Bonus: A few more polka-dot moments in cream and olive, in red and white, and in two shades of yellow.
What a beautify written post, you couldn’t have narrated this experience better!!! What a talented writer.😘

Always a fan of polka dots. The sheer sleeves on this really elevate the look though!

Thanks! Yes, the sheer sleeves were part of what drew me to the dress I think ❤

Thanks so much! ❤ That really means a lot to me; writing has been a lifelong passion. Fashion is a (relatively) newer venture for me but I found an unexpected propensity for it, and here we are now 🙂 My two passions happily married in blog form.
